Newcomers & Friends

Board

  • President

    Patti Natale

Patti is a “Jersey” girl. She moved to Somerset County in 2013 after living in Hudson and Bergen Counties. She joined Newcomers in 2014—-hoping to meet new friends, learn the area, and just have fun. A retired educator, she loves being around children and continues that love by being a GrandPal in Princeton and co-chairing the NC&F Holiday Gift-Giving drive. Patti loves the diverse NC&F interest groups and activities—the walking groups, Broadway Bound, Out & About NJ, Friday with Friends, and Social Coffee—just to name a few—-and hopes to participate in even more activities.

  • Programs VP

    Carole Moore

Originally from NJ, Carole spent time in Connecticut and Vermont before moving to Princeton. Carole’s career included administration and teaching positions in Princeton and Greenwich, CT as well as a speech pathologist. A life-long learner, Carole has continued to challenge herself in retirement with coursework in the arts and sciences, auditing courses at Princeton University and honing her cooking and baking skills through classes and bootcamp at the Culinary Institute.

  • Programs VP

    Paula Schlinger

Paula spent her career in fundraising for non-profit organizations. She directed the development programs at two independent schools, served as Executive Director of the Dallas Zoological Society, and was Director of Development for the New Mexico and Connecticut chapters of The Nature Conservancy. She and her husband, Jim Gerhardt, moved to Princeton 10 years ago. Since that time Paula has been active with Newcomers & Friends, as well as serving as a consultant to several nonprofit groups through LaSalle University. She enjoys reading, travel, choral singing, hiking (when her knees cooperate) and visiting her children and grandchildren.

  • Membership VP

    Sara Albers

Sara is originally from Minnesota. She and her family moved to New Jersey in 2018 after living in Copenhagen, Denmark. Formerly a teacher, she is a mom of two boys; a freshman in college and a sophomore in high school. Sara enjoys walking, knitting, traveling, and cheering on her favorite hockey team. Newcomers has been a wonderful way to meet friends, get to know the surrounding area and try new things. Sara participates in the Teen Talk group, Pins and Needles, Walking and Hiking Groups and hopes to enjoy more time being together this year.

  • Social VP

    Colette Plank

Colette is a fitness instructor in Pennington. She enjoys Pickleball and getting together with friends. She is originally from the UK and has been in the US for 17 years. She moved to the area from Cincinnati 8 years ago. Colette is married with 2 daughters, a Junior in College and the other working in the NYC. The family also includes 1 cat and 2 dogs. Upon moving to NJ, Colette joined Newcomers and Friends as it was a great way to meet new people. NC&Fs has a lot of great groups with interesting events. She enjoys getting together with new friends.

  • Interest Groups VP

    Cathylee Healy

Cathylee grew up in NH and lived in Boston for many years before leaving New England to live one hour from NYC and 40 minutes from Philly. Cathylee still loves the activities she enjoyed in New England such as skiing, sailing, biking and exploring cities. She was an IT professional and she enjoys oil painting in her spare time. Cathylee loves the ocean and is glad that the boardwalk near Belmar is a straight shot east and only takes one hour. Moving to NJ without knowing a single soul, Cathylee was so happy to find NC&F and the group of wonderful ladies that make it up.

  • Marketing/Communications VP

    Andrea Voigt

Andrea joined Newcomers in 2019 after arriving in Princeton from Australia and was so happy to find Newcomers to ease the homesickness. Having to return to the “land down under” in 2020 until 2022, she kept in touch through the Newcomers Facebook group, Newsletters and Zoom.

A retired Administrator, she enjoys golf, road cycling, travelling and cooking and reading, along with a number of Interest Groups ensuring there is no time to feel homesick anymore.

  • Treasurer

    Sarah Scanga

Sarah was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and lived in Dallas to 13 years and Florida for 19 years. Sarah is happy to have returned back to the Northeast since 2004. She joined Newcomers in 2017 and held the Board position of Recording Secretary for 3 years. Retiring in 2016 from a career in financial services, focusing on strategic planning, marketing and communications, retirement has allowed Sarah to pursue her favorite activities such as learning Italian, playing duplicate bridge and volunteering at Rise. Newcomers & Friends has allowed Sarah to make new friends and participate in a wide variety of activities. She is happy to be serving on the board again, of such a great organization and looks forward to participating in more interest groups.

  • Recording Secretary

    Ginger Greenzang

Ginger moved to the Princeton Area in 1995 from Philadelphia. She has three children, two in college and a recent college graduate who is preparing for grad school. Ginger works with her husband at their Philadelphia based real estate and property management company. Ginger was introduced to the Newcomers and Friends through a couple of friends who are members. They encouraged her to join them in the Teen Talk interest group. Since joining, Ginger has enjoyed participating in Teen Talk, the Hiking group, a walking group and Pickleball and looks forward to participating in many more interest groups.
