Looking for a safe and nurturing place for your child before and/or after regular school hours? Our Before School and After School Program is the perfect answer! Since the mid-70s, thousands of children and families have benefited from our exceptional program that inspires and engages children in learning, provides opportunities for play and socialization, encourages children to explore their interests, and provides peace of mind for working parents.

Our core curriculum includes a multicultural program that provides a variety of interesting, social, educational, fun, physical, and creative activities that engage and stimulate your child’s growth. The curriculum also includes a bullying-prevention program that foster self-esteem and teaches children to respect themselves, others, and the environment.

Daily activities include homework time, group games, teambuilding activities, sports, arts & crafts, adventure, science, and a healthy lifestyle planning program. A healthy snack is also provided to help children concentrate on having fun! Throughout the school year, Enrichments are also offered at most schools for an additional cost.

Our program is licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Children and Families Office of Licensing. The YWCA Princeton After School Program is a member of the Afterschool Alliance, NJSACC, and a participant in the annual national Lights On Afterschool celebration.

Registration for the new school year opens July 1, 2019. Tuition for the After School Program varies based on number of days and length of the program.

Periodically throughout the academic year (usually once in the Fall and again in the Spring), we offer Enrichment Programs during the hours of the After School Program. Options may include instructional sports to S.T.E.A.M activities.

Enrichments for Fall 2019 will include:

  • Soccer Shots: It is described as “a nationally recognized program that offers a high-energy, fun and age appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. In addition to soccer, we work on improving children’s gross motor skills and teaching children important concepts such as teamwork, sharing and respect. Soccer Shots instructors are enthusiastic and passionate about working with kids. Our goal is simple: to leave a lasting and positive impact on every child we serve!”
  • Dance Expression: Dance Expression will be running at two different times for PreK-2nd grade and 3-5 grade.
The children will be learning two types of hip hop, Urban dance and House dance. These two genres of dance will specialize in weight changes and allow the dancer to groove and understand his/her’s body through movement. A small class recital will be held in December to express what the students learned throughout the fall session.
  • Amazing Athletes: There will be two programs for our younger and older age groups. Amazing Athletes for PreK-2nd grade and Training Academy for 3-5th grade.

Amazing Athletes is described as “the premier year-round developmental physical fitness program empowering children to reach developmental milestones at an individual pace. Our action-packed curriculum is endorsed by Early Childhood Expert, Bonnie Bruce who reviews each element of our program to ensure our Amazing Athletes get every possible advantage. And our programs show kids just how much fun fitness can be! Children learn the importance of patience, teamwork, and self-confidence in a non-competitive, learning-based environment that fosters a love of healthy living. Their excitement for structured physical activity promotes advancements and advantages that keep children on the path to personal well-being.”

Training Academy is described as “a cross-training, game-based sports program designed to engage older children in active wellness through advanced physical fitness challenges and interactive sports lessons. Our coaches work with each child to help them strive for their personal best. Each class engages athletes in non-competitive, sport-specific training for focused development. Athletes work in pairs to develop team work, motor skills, and patience. Amazing Athletes Training Academy promotes skill-based learning and non-competitive play so that each athlete has the confidence to learn and engage. Children engage in introductory partner-based skill activities which help to advance teamwork”.

Johnson Park students who attend the YWCA Princeton After School Program at Community Park will be transported to Community Park. They will be picked up at Johnson Park at the end of the day and will be dropped off at Community Park School. This service is provided by the Princeton School District Transportation Department. The YWCA Princeton does not provide transportation services between the two schools. The YWCA Princeton is not responsible for any transportation issues.
