Carolyn P. Sanderson

Morgan Stanley

Carolyn Powell Sanderson is an Executive Director, Financial Adviser and Co-founder of the Copper Beech Group at Morgan Stanley.

Giving back to the community has been central to Carolyn. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Princeton Area Community Foundation and Chair of the Fund for Women and Girls (FWG).

She was also on the boards of McCarter Theatre, the Medical Center of Princeton Foundation, Trinity Counseling Service (Chair), the Friends of the Institute for Advanced Study (Chair), RFB&D, and the Nassau Club.

Carolyn has chaired the FWG for the past three years. The Fund for Women and Girls is a field of interest fund within the Princeton Area Community Foundation. FWG members are a diverse group of women and men who pool their resources to invest in organizations and programs designed to improve the lives of economically disadvantaged women and girls in Greater Mercer County.

Focusing on the areas of childcare, mentoring, domestic violence, and women’s health, the FWG engages in a competitive grant making progress, where members solicit applications, review them, conduct site visits and vote on which organizations to fund.

Over the past 20 years, the FWG has raised and made grants of nearly $1,000,000.

Our goals are to educate our members about the needs of the community and how to become more deliberate philanthropists, to collaborate with one another, to encourage our grantee partners to collaborate with each other, and to invest our time, talent and treasure in our community.

Carolyn graduated from Harvard College, cum laude, with an A.B. in History and Literature. While at Harvard she was a varsity fencer and captain of the women’s team. She is a Certified Financial Planner, and holds securities and insurance licenses. A long-time resident of Pennington, Carolyn and her husband have 3 children and 2 Scottish terriers.
