2018 Tribute Honorees

Carolyn Biondi

Arm In Arm

Carolyn Biondi is the Executive Director of Arm In Arm, working to ensure food, housing and employment stability for low-income families and individuals across Mercer County. Carolyn was named Executive Director in the fall of 2011 after serving on Arm In Arm’s board of directors and as a volunteer in its food and housing programs. In December of that year, a fire heavily damaged Arm In Arm’s headquarters and main food pantry in downtown Trenton. In the face of this enormous setback, Carolyn’s outstanding resourcefulness helped to ensure that the organization continued to provide essential services without interruption. Carolyn’s leadership during this time, along with an outpouring of financial and volunteer support that came from the community in response to the fire, made it possible to double the level of service and open a permanent satellite pantry in Trenton. Today, Arm In Arm works with more than 11,000 people each year, many of whom are single parents, children, and seniors, struggling with the daily challenges of meeting the basic needs of food, shelter, and the financial means to sustain them. Carolyn’s tenure at Arm In Arm has been characterized by innovation and energy as the organization continues to expand and strengthen
its services.

Carolyn received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. While pursuing the degree she earned a Maternal and Child Health fellowship from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Over her career, she has held positions in development, grants management and program evaluation in child welfare, community health and emergency service settings in Chicago, Boston and Mercer County, NJ. She lives with her husband, Paul, and their three children in Skillman, New Jersey.
