Every ten years, our country takes a national headcount. The census provides the government with important information, such as the population and demographic of a given state and community, which then influences how much representation each state is given in Washington, and how much funding each community receives. The information gathered in the census is kept private for 72 years, and later that information is accessible and can help families for genealogical purposes.

In the last census, New Jersey was not accurately reflected and we therefore lost out on funding and governmental representation.

Dr. Douglas Massey is a Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Princeton University and an expert on immigration. He will be giving a presentation about immigration and the importance of the 2020 Census. Visit the Princeton University website for his full biography.
