Friday with Friends--Gardening for Butterflies: Bring Nature to Your Home @ Morven Museum and Garden - Stockton Education Center

Get a breath of Spring and learn which plants will attract butterflies to your garden in this illustrated talk. We’ll learn a bit about butterflies and their behavior along the way, as their unique biology informs which plants will attract them the most. The talk will finish with some of the best butterfly plant recommendations just in time for you to hit the Spring plant and seed sales. Even if you don’t garden, you’ll deepen your appreciation of Nature and start dreaming of Spring.

Our Speaker: Louise is a creative and energetic supporter of Newcomers and Friends, serving in many leadership roles including as president and interest group leader. She is a South Jersey Native and trained as an anthropological archaeologist earning her PhD at the University of Arizona with 3 long excavations in Syria. After moving back to NJ as a trailing spouse about 18 years ago, she became a Master Gardener of Mercer County after being inspired at a talk about the program during a Friday with Friends! After winning both state and international master gardening awards, she realized the 3rd or 4th career pivot of her life. She now works in horticulture, at both Morven Museum and as a Garden Educator at Riverside Elementary School (purportedly the largest Organic Garden at a Public School in NJ, if not a wider area!). She particularly loves the natural world, and is most excited when she can unite history, plants and people – and be in Nature with new & old friends.

COVID19 Precautions: Each person is required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Social distancing is encouraged. The doors of the Stockton Center will be open to include air circulation, so dress warmly. Anyone who has been recently exposed (even if vaccinated) should not attend any indoor events until tested.
