YWCA supports providing children access to programs that engage their creativity, and encourage physical activity. Our dance program provides a safe and nurturing environment for self-expression. For children enrolled in our Child Development Center, our dance program is an enrichment opportunity that can be included in their child care.
A child’s first experience with ballet and movement. Children will engage in creative play, dance games and beginner ballet exercises. This class is designed to stimulate the creative part of the child’s brain through dance and imagination.

These hip-hop classes teach rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and creative dance experience. Classes are intended to develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun. Participants are placed in age-appropriate classes.

- Age: 6-12
A creative movement class designed for young children to explore concepts of space, time, weight, and balance. This class will stimulate your child’s intellect as thought and action work together in a creative atmosphere to make learning connections. Free play combined with structure and use of dance toys will engage your child in a class they will look forward to each week.

- For children currently in our Child Development Center, staff will escort the children to and from the class.

This nine week long summer camp will have your child immersed in the fun and magic of fairy tales. Daily ballet lessons, choreography, and prop making are all part of the magic. Each week features a new princess or fairy tale story that has your child wanting to learn more. Your little dancer will believe she or he is a real ballerina or ballerino! Perfect summer camp for girls and boys, 3-12 years.

Children and caregivers are invited to enjoy an evening the old-fashioned way at the YWCA Princeton! Come dressed in formal wear, and enjoy the evening with Valentine’s Day cookies, juice and candy treats in a fun and heart-warming way. Click here to purchase tickets!

Are you excited to learn dance forms and percussion from cultures around the world? The Drum & Dance Learning Center (DDLC) at YWCA Princeton is the perfect place to learn Belly Dance and West African and Middle Eastern Percussion. Our classes provide a fun & relaxed environment for both the casual student as well as a path for growth for life long learners and are a great alternative to your everyday workout. Sweat, learn to dance and have fun while doing it!

This dance class involves learning the fundamentals of the highly expressive Spanish dance. Students will explore the essential techniques such as proper posture, rhythm, footwork, hand clapping and hand, arm, and body movements. The engaging atmosphere will allow the students to focus on the basics while having fun.

NOTE: No make-up classes are scheduled for class closings. Class closings are not included in class cost & fees. When the YWCA Princeton facility is closed, the dance classes are closed.
Girls: pink or black leotard, pink or black tights, pink or black leather ballet slippers.
Boys: black jazz pants (yoga pants), white t-shirt, black leather ballet slippers.
Hair must be up and off face secured in either a bun or ponytail.
*Note: Tutus or dance costumes are not permitted in class. Please do not bring any type of accessory or jewelry.
Boys and Girls: black jazz pants (yoga pants), leotard, tank top, or t-shirt (color of your choice) and sneakers.
