Over 250 golfers and supporters came together at the 5th Annual Dr. Sandra Gatt Memorial Golf Tournament to raise over $70,000 for YWCA Princeton’s Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) on Monday, August 6. This golf fundraiser is held every August in the memory of breast cancer patient and renowned reconstructive plastic surgeon Dr. Sandra Joy Gatt, who practiced in the Princeton area.

When Dr. Gatt was going through her own breast cancer journey, she saw the need for a transportation and companionship program for breast cancer patients while they underwent chemotherapy. “Even in her own suffering, she wanted to help other people,” said Paula Flory, Director of the Breast Cancer Resource Center.

The transportation program at BCRC services patients and providers, including Capital Health (Hopewell), Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (Hamilton), University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, and the Breast Health Center in East Windsor. The program matches patients with breast cancer survivor volunteers to stay with them until they are transported home.

The event was held at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe, NJ, and included a silent auction after the tournament. “An event of this magnitude is a team effort – we can always count on Forsgate members and their friends, the ladies at the YWCA Princeton and BCRC to roll up their sleeves and pitch right in to help make this event a huge success,” said Charles J. Gatt, Event Chair and Dr. Sandra Gatt’s father-in-law.

The gold sponsors of the tournament were Dr. Charles Gatt Jr., University Orthopaedic Associates, CME, Barbara & Tom Kuni. The silver sponsors were Michele & Peter Myers, while the bronze sponsors were the Piscatelli Family, Kathy & Charlie Gatt, Brenda Greenhaus, DCO Energy, Honda of Princeton and Szaferman, Lakind, Blumstein & Blader, P.C. Special Donors for the event were High Grade Beverage, Malouf Auto Group, New York Yankees and Rutgers Football.
