A standing-room only crowd of over 330 guests in an array of pink party attire, looked on as the 5th Annual “In the Pink” Fashion Show and Silent Auction, celebrated the strength, beauty and spirit of breast cancer survivors, and the courage and compassion of their support network. Held at The Westin Princeton Forrestal Village on Friday, October 2, 2009, stunning fall fashions from local retailers and specialty designers were modeled by breast cancer survivors together with their husbands, children, friends, doctors, and nurses - a moving reminder of the unified team that supports each woman as she battles this disease.
“In the Pink” is BCRC’s signature awareness and fundraising event of the YWCA Princeton's Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC). Despite, or perhaps in-ligh of, the difficult economic situation everyone is facing, BCRC's friends, both new and old, came together in a phenomenal show of support to raise over $37,000 to benefit BCRC. Held for the first time in 2005, “In the Pink” has raised over $110,000 to support BCRC, and has become the must-attend event of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Central New Jersey. 100% of the proceeds from “In the Pink” are directed to supporting BCRC's free programs and services for breast cancer patients and survivors including support groups, a peer support network, a wig & prosthesis bank, teleconferences and guest lectures, a resource library, a mind/body wellness program, and community outreach activities.
We would like to thank everyone involved with making this event a success for their time, energy, creativity, enthusiasm, and generosity! It is due to the dedication of our many sponsors, donors, and volunteers that this special evening continues to inspire and empower.
