Wig & Prosthesis Boutique

Women diagnosed with and survivors of breast cancer are invited to visit our boutique at the Breast Cancer Resource Center. You will find most everything you might need. In the privacy of our center, we provide you with personalized wig fittings and wigs that meet your personal preferences and situation.

Our extensive line of easy-to-care wigs come in a variety of shades, length, styles. We also offer hard-to-find multi-cultural and ethnic wigs. We encourage you to visit our boutique before hair loss so that we can best match your current hair color and style if you choose.

Mastectomy bras, breast forms (prosthesis), wigs, hats, scarves, and accessories are also available. We encourage you to contact us to set up an appointment. The boutique is located at the BCRC, YWCA Princeton, 59 Paul Robeson Place, Princeton.

Private Counseling

Need help exploring feelings you’re having because of your breast cancer diagnosis or treatment? Want to learn how to adjust to your new normal? Going through a “rough patch”? Not a Support Group person?

Licensed Clinical Social worker, Elsje Reiss offers Private Counseling sessions as a service of the Breast Cancer Resource Center’s Support Program. Issues to be discussed might include loss of control, fear of recurrence, communicating with loved ones, post-treatment anxiety, or self-esteem. Sessions are 60 minutes in length and if not covered by insurance, are free of charge to breast cancer patients/survivors (and spouses, adult children, parents, or caregivers, if appropriate) at any stage of the breast cancer journey. These sessions are intended to provide support for the short term only. If, after several sessions, it is determined that long-term professional support would be beneficial, referrals will be made.

To make an appointment, please call 609-497-2100 ext. 349. Appointments available Monday - Saturday. Sessions may be conducted at the Breast Cancer Resource Center located in Bramwell House at the YWCA Princeton, or Elsje’s private office, also in Princeton.

Treatment Express

Transportation should never be a barrier to treatment and no woman should travel this journey alone. Thanks to the generous donations in memory of Dr. Sandy Gatt, the Breast Cancer Resource Center offers a treatment transportation and companionship program for women with breast cancer. Treatment Express we will be servicing patients and providers within a 15 mile radius of our Princeton location, including Capital Health ( Hopewell), Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (Hamilton), University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, and the Breast Health Center in East Windsor.

If you are interested in a companion to accompany you to your chemotherapy treatment, we will match you with a breast cancer survivor volunteer to stay with you until you are transported home.

For more information or to schedule a ride, contact Claudia Lopez at (609) 497-2100. ext 303.

Patient Assistance Fund

The BCRC Patient Assistance Fund is supported by the Christina S. Walsh Breast Cancer Foundation and the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women. It is dedicated to providing financial assistance to breast cancer patients in need. The Fund may be able to offset breast cancer expenses including, but not limited to, treatment, medication, medical tests, co-pays, hospice care and other necessities not covered by insurance, as well as cost of meals, accommodations, hospital parking fees, childcare, rent, utilities etc. incurred by patients and families while a loved one is in hospital, treatment or recovery.

Staying A"Head" of the Curve

Our amazing staff can off you a fun way to head off a hairy situation. Since losing hair to breast cancer treatment is often one of the most difficult obstacles women face, we can help you take charge by offering you a free head shaving service. As survivors ourselves, we've been there and we get it. We will share our tips and tricks, help you choose a beautiful wig, scarf, and hat, toast with champagne and cupcakes, and celebrate the empowering feeling of taking control, and sending you on your way with a great new look and more positive attitude. Your family and friends are welcome to participate.
