What is it? Nia is a physical conditioning program based on a premise that movement is a pathway for self-discovery and personal transformation. The Nia Technique combines movements and concepts from dance, martial arts, yoga and healing bodywork into a total body workout that is both challenging and fun. Nia is different from other kinds of exercise because it addresses all four elements of the movement experience: body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Nia is a low-to-no-impact aerobic workout that is appropriate for all levels of fitness. Nia has been shown to reduce stress and feelings of isolation as well as enhance mood because the technique allows participants to express emotions and release tension through guided movement. Participants leave feeling both energized and relaxed.
