About Newcomers Club

New to the area, or have you made a lifestyle change? Join the Newcomers Club—in existence over 50 year—to make friends, get acquainted with the area, enjoy interesting activities, and share resources. “Friday with Friends,” the group’s monthly gathering, is held the second Friday of the month at the YWCA, Sept.-June, 11:30 am-2 pm. Social coffees are held the third Thursday of the month, Aug.-June, 9:30-11 am, in the cozy living room at Bramwell House. More than 30 interest groups meet weekly or monthly during the day, in the evening, and on the weekend. For membership information and a monthly newsletter listing current events, contact Natalia Sotos, 609-818-1523, sotoscnia@verizon.net, or Joan Tyson, 609-275-4885, tyson2022@verizon.net.

Our "Friday with Friends" gatherings are normally held at the YWCA from September through June. We usually meet on the second Friday of each month from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. The meeting agenda includes welcoming new members, providing an overview and sign-up for monthly activities, a brief General Board meeting, and a guest speaker or activity. A light lunch is available for a nominal charge. Babes in arms are welcome at Friday with Friends. Social Coffees are held on the third Thursday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in a more relaxed atmosphere—at the YWCA’s Bramwell House Living Room.

In addition to our monthly meetings, more than 25 interest groups meet throughout the year. Here is a sampling of the types of groups in which you can become involved: Couples Dining Out, Artsy Fartsy, Bridge, Book Group, Golf, Babysitting Coop, Movies, International Insights, and ESL Conversations. For a complete listing and description of current interest group activities, go to the
Interest Groups page of our website.

Our monthly newsletter is the primary source of club information. It contains the dates, times, and locations of meetings and all of the upcoming monthly activities of the interest groups. You can pick up a copy of the newsletter at the Friday with Friends or Social Coffee. You can also contact the
Membership VPs to receive one by mail or go to our Membership page
and print out a membership registration form.

Our main concern is YOU! Helping you feel at home in your new surroundings is our goal.
